- Who needs the Macrobiotic consultation? The macrobiotic diet became best known for its regenerating effects for people with cancer. But Macrobiotics is not only for people with cancer. More importantly, it is said to help in reaching and maintaining optimal health, mental clarity, emotional calmness, and an overall regeneration of the body. The macrobiotic diet is based on the philosophical principals of balance and harmony or Yin & Yang. In order to determine one's nutritional needs, the macrobiotic concept takes into consideration one's surrounding environment, activity level, and general health. The macrobiotic diet moves with the seasons. During the hot summer months, when the body needs foods that provide a cooling effect, cooking methods become lighter and shorter, stir-frying, Steaming, and light boiling are the main cooking methods for the season. Vegetables are cut finer or in matchsticks for quicker cooking. Salt and Tamari are used in smaller amounts. During the colder months when the body needs more warmth and energy, longer cooking methods such as casseroles, baked dishes and hearty soups are used. A bit more oil, seasonings, condiments like gomashio, and sea salt (only used in cooking) are used since they are warming the body. Vegetables are cut into chunks for longer cooking. Buckwheat, soba noodles and fried rice are suited for this time. A macrobiotic diet can aid us in bringing our bodies and health into harmony with the environment around us. There is truth in the adage " you are what you eat." The food we eat affects who we are, how we feel, act and react. How can a macrobiotic diet help to improve our lives? The macrobiotic approach is based on principles and practices that have been known to philosophers and physicians throughout history. Centered around the ancient Oriental principles of Yin and Yang, those expanding and contracting, complimentary yet opposite, forces found throughout the Universe, the macrobiotic way of food preparation enables us to achieve harmony within ourselves and the environment around us. A macrobiotic diet can strengthen our souls and bodies so that we can optimally cope with the situations and passages that we encounter in our lives, including:
Through the use of whole grains, natural foods, and local, seasonal ingredients combined with harmonious cooking techniques, the macrobiotic diet enables us to reach and maintain optimal health, mental clarity, emotional calmness, and overall regeneration of our bodies. And who doesn’t need the ability to remain calm, yet energized and clear-headed in our troubled times?
Oriental Diagnosis is not a therapy in itself but it is a way of recognizing a weakened organ. Hopefully before it causes problems. If you know an organ is getting weak, then you can do something about it BEFORE it causes you symptoms. This is a true form of Holistic medicine. Preventive and not reactive.(**)
Oriental diagnosis is an ancient medical art of reading the body to determine health, talents & character. Oriental Diagnosis is a very old, non invasive form of diagnosis. It has been used for thousands of years in countries such as Japan and China. The body is viewed as an orchestra, whose music is the soul. Each organ is an instrument in the orchestra. If one is out of tune, it needs adjustment to bring into harmony with the other organs. Generally, pain in the front of the body is acute. Pain in the back of the body is chronic in nature. The condition of the internal organs are apparent by looking at external features, such as the face, tongue and ears. The ears are a microcosm of your fetus, where the
head is the ear lobe. Fear is present when the kidneys are weak. A sick person can become healthy, A healthy person
can become sick. Be gentle with your weaknesses, treat them with
respect. Having an attitude that the problem is an opportunity is your key to health.(**) The shape and marking on your nose for example will tell what is happening in your heart, pancreas and stomach. Your lips will inform to how much stagnation you have in your intestines. The pimples/ markings on your chin or side of chin will indicate the health/ disease of your reproductive system. But Oriental Diagnosis can be exercised on other parts of the body as well. For example the health of the heart, liver, kidneys, lungs, spleen etc.. is visible on the tongue. The sclera in the eyes will also tell what is happening in the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen. Cysts or tumors in the reproductive system are sometimes noticeable on the sclera. Meridians can also be used for diagnosis. Dis/coloration on certain parts of the body where the meridians run can give a warning that something is going to happen in a specific organ. Testing specific meridian points can also inform to the congestion in certain organs. The feet also have a story to tell. All organs are mirrored in the feet (and the hands). Pressing on a specific part of the foot will either confirm or question what we previously found whilst diagnosing a person. When combined together, all these diagnosing methods give us a very good idea of what is happening in a person's body.(**)
If you are told an organ is getting weak in advance, you can take remedial steps to strengthen this organ before it causes problems. Preventive medicine is always better than reactive medicine and much more gentle on the body. Oriental Diagnosis will allow you to detect a forthcoming health problem before it manifests. Doing so may save you a long illness. It may even save your life.(*) Why are we putting a four months (120 days) diet? Red blood cells only last about four months before they wear out, so if we get natural, healthy & pure food in this period; we'll have a healthy, new red blood cells in all our body organs including the weak ones (if present)
