In December of 1998, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and significant lymph node involvement.

I immediately underwent a mastectomy and nine months of chemotherapy and radiation.

Unfortunately, at the conclusion of my treatment, my doctor told me that she expected the cancer to return, which judging from all I had been told, would very likely prove fatal. I had no reason to doubt her prediction that my cancer would soon reemerge.

Eight years before, Doctors discovered bone cancer in my left leg, which required the removal of my leg above the knee. Now cancer was back in my breast and very likely would recur, despite months of torturous treatment. As a last resort, I was encouraged to undergo bone marrow transplant, a procedure that studies would later prove to be ineffective, extremely painful, and potentially fatal.

As fate would have it, someone suggested that I investigate the macrobiotic diet, which, the person said, "has helped some women to overcome breast cancer. " Within days, I was practicing macrobiotics, attending cooking classes, and discovering that, yes many women had indeed overcome breast cancer with macrobiotic diet.

Today, medical tests have shown that I am completely free of cancer and in exceptionally good health. I now teach macrobiotic cooking and way of life. I do this because I love this way of eating and living, and because I want to share it with all people, especially those who are in as much trouble as I once was.
